Designer insight - Antipodea

For the recent launch of Antipodea we asked Rebecca, one of the key designers on the project to tell us a little more about the new brand, the inspiration behind the concept and her highlights.

Our concept for Antipodea was to bring the Australian heritage of the brand into the restaurant design and relating this to the botanical locality of Kew Gardens.

Hence, the idea of “The Potting Shed,” using natural tones and materials and bringing the outdoor in with plenty of planting.  We wanted to create a relaxing feel by day and an urban cool evening spot for dinner.

I enjoyed working closely with both the client and the team on site, allowing us to develop the detailing of the design and create the right aesthetic within the space.

My favourite design element would have to be the botanical wallpaper. Working together with the new fireplace and rattan seating, it really brings alive the concept and creates a warm and welcoming feel to the restaurant.

With the project being situated so close to our offices, we are looking forward to having many team lunches there!
